Spanish Program

1st and 2nd grades students:

  • Acquire basic vocabulary through music, games, role-playing skits and activities;
  • Gain an understanding of how the Spanish language is structured to ask/answer questions and write sentences.

3rd, 4th and 5th grades students:

  • Use the Viva El Español workbook system A, B and C to practice use of new  vocabulary;
  • Expand their vocabulary and learn Spanish phonetics, syntax and grammar;
  • Become more confident communicating orally and writing to describe themselves and the world around them.

Middle School students:

  • Use the textbook Avancemos! to learn new vocabulary and grammar concepts;
  • Read grade leveled short plays and stories to practise Spanish reading comprehension skills;
  • Develop increased proficiency in oral and written communication through independent and group activities;
  • Increase their cultural awareness through authentic videos and reading material, research projects and class conversations.
