Home & School Association
The Home and School Association (HSA) works with the pastor, principal, administration and faculty to lead and organize events that promote school community and raise funds for special projects.
Primary HSA Goals:
- Lead and organize events that promote school culture and community such as Arts Festival, parent-child events, Bingo, Homecoming, and the school spirit store.
- Lead and organize events that raise funds for school projects. Fundraising efforts include, but are not limited to, the annual Cardinal 5K Race, "Dine Out" nights, the grocery enrollment program, Book Fair, school supplies, used uniforms, hot lunch, and the biennial ShamRock-n-Roll.
- Promote communication and cohesiveness of effort through a nursery school liaison and volunteer groups such as room parents.
- Fund ongoing efforts for faculty appreciation through monthly meals, wish-list fulfillment, as well as Christmas and end-of-year bonuses.
- Work in collaboration with the School Advisory Board and Athletic Association to stream-line community and school efforts and maintain open communication.
The Home and School Association is administered by an Executive Committee which is composed of the Principal, Pastor, a Faculty Representative, School Advisory Board President, Association President, Vice President, Former President, Treasurer and Secretary. The HSA also includes Committee Chairpersons who organize and staff events and projects throughout the year.
Primary Member Goals and Obligations:
- Association members act as stewards called to support the vision and mission of the school and who articulate the mission in words and actions.
- Members are expected to attend appropriate monthly meetings. HSA meetings are typically held on the second Thursday of every month from 7:00pm to 8:00pm in the Faculty Room.
- Committee Chairs are asked to communicate with the Executive Board and other Committee Chairs regarding their event. Updates include community outreach efforts, volunteer needs, financial needs and status, and post-event report. Committee chairs coordinate volunteers for their event.
The Principal, Vice Principal, Pastor, and School Advisory Board President are invited executive committee members. Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Faculty Representative Executive are chosen by the Pastor and the Principal through an application process; Treasurer, Secretary and Faculty Representative are asked for a two year commitment to serve in their role. A three-year commitment is asked for the Vice President, President, and Past President with the officer serving one year in each position. Executive members may serve longer than one term but should reapply for the position after their term is complete so that all interested applicants can be considered.
Committee Chairs have a one-event or one-year obligation, but may continue longer. Chairs are expected to help find a replacement(s) when ready to step-down. If unable to find a replacement, they will contact the HSA volunteer coordinator and the position will be posted to the community. Anyone interested to serve as a Committee Chair, please contact the current chair or the HSA volunteer coordinator.
Each year's slate of officer's and list of committee members may be located in the Holy Redeemer Catholic School Directory, which is distributed every September. The HSA President is available for questions at open forums such as Back to School Night, Principal Coffees, and the State of the School address. Questions or concerns can always be sent via personal email communications
Are you unable to hold an HSA office but still want to help? WE NEED YOU!!
The Home & School Association looks to our wonderful parents each year to help reach our program goals. It is not required to be a member of the HSA to help. Each program, project and events needs additional parent volunteers. Often there are ways to volunteer from home or work. Each year we are amazed by the amount of time and talent the Holy Redeemer community gives to ensure that Holy Redeemer Catholic School is the best it can be, thank you in advance for your help.
The Home and School Association publishes a phone directory annually which contains class lists, addresses, and phone numbers for Holy Redeemer students, K–8, as well as participants in the Religious Education Program (by grade level) and the HR Nursery School. An index in the front of the book lists family names and phone numbers in alphabetical order. The directory is distributed during the first quarter for a small fee. A notice is sent home in September asking for sponsors. A Sponser will receive a free directory. Ads are also sold to defray the publishing costs.
HSA meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month from 7:00pm to 8:00pm in the Faculty Room. These Meetings are for Board Members Only.
